Guidelines for the Holidays

Kiwanis Lodge is working hard to maximize designated social visitors, essential visitors as well as facilitating window visits for residents and families. In order to book any visit, please call 250-740-2727. Virtual visits may be another good way to see more family members. Perhaps your essential or social visitor could bring in a device (if you don’t have one) and arrange a Facetime, Facebook Messenger, Skype or Zoom call.

Residents are encouraged to limit visits into the broader community to essential visits only, and gathering should only occur between those living in the same household. No special allowances have been made by the Provincial Health Officer for the holidays. Should residents and families choose to bring a family member home from long-term care for the holidays, regardless of the length of the visit, the resident will be required to isolate for 14 days upon their return to Kiwanis Lodge.

In certain situations, you may be unable to return to the Lodge at the time of your choosing. Residents and families should be aware that there may be an undetermined and potentially lengthy waiting period for re-admission if:

  1. the Lodge is under outbreak protocol and closed to admissions, or
  2. You have been exposed to or have symptoms of COVID-19.

We recognize the difficult and unprecedented nature of this holiday season. Our hope is that we can all find joy in the small things, and believe that 2021 will being us all back together.
