WHAT DOES ‘HOME’ MEAN TO YOU?
No matter what home means to you, there are common threads that connect us all. It’s the right to feel safe and supported at every age. It’s deeply personal, a mirror to where you have been and what you hold close. It’s knowing you are seen.
Kiwanis Village is affordable housing. It’s assisted and supportive living, grounded in gentle care for older people. But it’s so much more. It’s where support and independence coexist. It’s manifesting joy for our residents and peace for the people who love them. This is home.
What We Do
Kiwanis Village provides Nanaimo’s seniors with affordable housing and multi-level care options that cultivate dignity, and deep sense of purpose for all. We are an established community of over 200 Villagers, celebrating triumphs and facing challenges as neighbours and friends.

We are steering personal
well-being towards JOY!
By reframing attitudes about aging, Kiwanis Village is bringing purpose, meaning and joy to the lives of older adults. “Old” is not an age. Wrinkles aren’t “ugly.” And aging isn’t a “problem.” Older age is an opportunity. It is the right to experience love, joy and wellness without discrimination.
Be a part of the shifting mind set surrounding care for older adults.

Culture Change, Wisdom and Education
Learning and sharing knowledge, growing in our understanding, adding perspectives and even changing our minds takes courage, persistence and an ability to cultivate a curious mind, stand back and be open to listening.
Living Well with Dementia
Dementia is an odd disease. It initially appears as strange behaviours that are unfamiliar to the person and their family. Dementia shows up as different ways of remembering things and sequencing events and people and so on.
WORKING HERE
Working at Kiwanis Village feels good because we do meaningful things and honourable work, everyday. We’re a small but close-knit group of professionals with a deeply-rooted desire to transform lives. Relationships are the lifeblood of Kiwanis and we start by investing in each other, to that end we cultivate the guiding values of respect, inclusion, and diversity for all.
