COVID-19 – A Message From the Desk of Melanie Young. Executive Director
I am humbled and in awe of the incredible response from all Villagers and staff who have demonstrated absolute support for the difficult decisions we have made as a Village over the last week.
Kiwanis’s reputation for excellence is truly deserved.
We are still in the early days of this pandemic and, as events unfold, I am reassured by the collaboration across our Village.
At this time we are maintaining a full Village NO VISITING ORDER. We will maintain a security presence 24 hours a day. All staff are able to stop a person and enquire as to the reason for visiting. Please do not be offended by this. Please be prepared to share the reason for your visit.
We have described solutions and ideas to support Villagers in every building to access groceries, medications, help, care and even Joy.
At this time the following staffing provisions are in effect:
- Bonnie Henry, Provincial Health Officer, stated that self isolation does not apply to health care workers who have travelled outside of Canada and provide direct care, unless travel included Hubei Province of China, Italy, or Iran
- Staff who are feeling unwell should us the usual channels to call in. We will support you to self assess, find a solution, find testing and offer reassurance
- Children are NOT permitted to visit in any part of the Village AT ANY TIME
- Animals and pets are NOT permitted at this time
You may NOT visit FOR ANY REASON if you have any of the following symptoms:
- Dry cough
- Shortness of breath
